Summary
While CMS has removed telehealth coverage for non-behavioral health services under Traditional Medicare, BCBSRI will continue its existing telemedicine policies for Commercial and Medicare Advantage plans without changes. For PLAN65 supplemental plans, claims will follow Medicare guidelines (no telehealth for non-behavioral services).
Action Required
By October 1, 2025: Billing team must verify plan type before submitting telehealth claims for non-behavioral health services. Continue billing telehealth for BCBSRI Commercial and Medicare Advantage members per existing policies. For PLAN65 supplemental members, stop billing telehealth for non-behavioral services as these will follow Medicare guidelines and be denied.
