Summary
Effective December 15, 2025, oncologists affiliated with Brown Cancer Institute will no longer need prior authorization for any services, treatments, or procedures (except medications) for all BCBSRI lines of business. This waiver applies whether they are the treating or ordering physician.
Action Required
By December 15, 2025: Billing team must update prior authorization workflows to exempt oncologists credentialed with Brown Cancer Institute from submitting prior auth requests for all services except medications. Update billing system rules and staff training to reflect this waiver for all BCBSRI plan types.
