Anthem is launching new self-service features in Availity Essentials for out-of-network providers in Virginia, effective May 2026. Out-of-network providers can now directly register with Anthem and manage demographic information (practice locations, contact details, remittance addresses) through the platform, streamlining administrative processes and supporting faster claims processing and service authorizations.

By May 2026: Out-of-network providers should proactively register with Anthem through Availity Essentials to enable streamlined processing. Action by: Out-of-network providers and billing staff. Where: Availity Essentials platform (https://Availity.com) under Provider Enrollment and Network Management. Steps: (1) Log in to Availity Essentials, (2) Select Payer Spaces and choose Anthem, (3) Go to Applications > Provider Enrollment and Network Management, (4) Select Out-of-Network / Single Case Agreements. Additionally, ensure practice demographic information is current in Provider Data Management (PDM) within Availity Essentials. If your organization is new to Availity Essentials, register at https://Availity.com and designate an administrator. For setup assistance, contact Availity Chat with Payer during business hours.
