Summary
BCBS Wyoming has created a new training video for concurrent review processes on Availity and reinforced that ALL authorization requests must be submitted through Availity, with very limited exceptions for FEP authorizations not accepted in Availity, system errors, transplant services, and pharmacy authorizations.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must ensure all authorization requests are submitted through Availity portal only. Stop using voicemail, mail, or fax for authorizations except for: FEP authorizations rejected by Availity, system errors reported to Provider Relations (1-888-666-5188), transplant services, and pharmacy authorizations. Staff should watch the new concurrent review training video and use Provider Directory Validation tool every 90 days to confirm NPI and tax ID combinations as required by No Surprises Act.
