Summary
BCBSWY is transitioning to mandatory online prior authorization submissions through the Availity portal effective 4/29/2024. Faxed authorizations will no longer be accepted except for specific facility types and FEP membership with contract numbers beginning with 'R'.
Action Required
By April 29, 2024: All staff must transition to submitting prior authorizations through the Availity online portal instead of faxing. Exception: Continue faxing for FEP members (contract numbers starting with 'R'), residential treatment centers, skilled nursing facilities, acute rehabilitation facilities, long-term acute care facilities, swing beds, and transplant authorizations. Train staff on new portal submission process using the guide on BCBSWY website. For technical issues, call 1-888-666-5188 with screenshots including web address bar and timestamp.
