Summary
BCBSWY has launched their online prior authorization portal in Availity and will require most facility-based services to use the portal starting June 1, 2024. Faxed authorizations will only be accepted for FEP members and transplant authorizations after this date.
Action Required
By June 1, 2024: All staff must transition from fax to Availity online portal for submitting prior authorizations for Residential Treatment Centers, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Acute Rehabilitation Facilities, Long Term Acute Care Facilities, and Swing Bed services. Only continue using fax for FEP members (contract numbers starting with 'R') and transplant authorizations. Register for webinars on 6/12 or 6/18 to learn new processes. Train staff to capture screenshots with web address and timestamp when reporting portal errors to 1-888-666-5188.
