Summary
Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota is changing their prior authorization process effective October 17, 2025. After this date, providers will no longer be able to add medical records or documentation to prior authorization cases once they have been submitted to BCBSND.
Action Required
Before October 17, 2025: All staff must update prior authorization workflows to ensure complete documentation is gathered and attached BEFORE submitting cases to BCBSND. Train providers and billing team that no additional documentation can be added after submission. For cases needing additional documentation after October 17, staff must call Utilization Management at 800-952-8462 to request permission through an RFAI task. Update internal checklists and EMR templates to verify all required documentation is complete before submission.
