Summary
BCBS Kansas is temporarily expanding telehealth coverage to include dental services through June 30, 2020, due to COVID-19. Virtual dental consultations will be reimbursed at the same rate as in-person visits with no member cost-sharing, using CDT code D0140 with place of service 02.
Action Required
Immediately for services on or after March 16, 2020: Billing team must use CDT code D0140 with place of service 02 for virtual dental consultations. Ensure telehealth platform meets real-time two-way interactive audio/visual requirements per HHS guidance. Update billing system to process these claims at same reimbursement rate as in-person visits. Note: Member cost-share will show in system but will be automatically removed during claim processing.
