Summary
Beginning July 1, 2021, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas designated Accredo as the specialty pharmacy and Express Scripts Pharmacy as the home delivery pharmacy for maintenance medications. Commercial members must use these designated pharmacies for new prescriptions, while Medicare Advantage members have these as additional options.
Action Required
By July 1, 2021: Providers must send new specialty prescriptions to Accredo for commercial BCBS Kansas members and home delivery maintenance prescriptions to Express Scripts Pharmacy. Update EMR e-prescribing settings to include Express Scripts Home Delivery option. Be prepared to handle patient requests for prescription transfers to these new pharmacies after the effective date.
