Summary
Indiana Health Coverage Programs now allows Licensed Addiction Counselor Associates (LAC-A) to provide counseling services in Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP), expanding the list of credentialed clinicians. LAC-A providers must be supervised and have all documentation reviewed and signed by approved supervisors.
Action Required
By September 5, 2021: Behavioral health billing teams at OTP facilities must update credentialing systems to recognize LAC-A providers as eligible for Medicaid reimbursement. Ensure supervision requirements are met and all LAC-A documentation is reviewed and signed by approved supervisors before claim submission. Update provider enrollment records if adding LAC-A staff.
