Summary
Indiana Medicaid (IHCP) has finalized its 2022 telehealth code set effective July 21, 2022, adding new audio-only modifier 93, expanding coverage for IOT services and additional E&M codes, and requiring specific POS codes (02 or 10) and modifiers (93 or 95) for telehealth billing. All telehealth services must use codes from the approved tables and will be reimbursed at the same rates as in-person services through the end of 2022.
Action Required
By July 21, 2022: Billing team must update telehealth billing protocols to use only codes from the approved IHCP telehealth code set with required POS codes (02 for telehealth not in patient's home, 10 for telehealth in patient's home) and appropriate modifiers (95 for audio-video, 93 for audio-only where eligible). Update billing system to include new hospital discharge, nursing facility, domiciliary, and home E&M codes for telehealth coverage. Configure IOT service codes H0015 and S9480 for telehealth billing. Claims not following these requirements will not be reimbursed.
