Summary
Effective August 1, 2022, Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) expanded the practitioners who can order speech pathology services beyond just physicians. Nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives, and physician assistants enrolled in IHCP can now order these services.
Action Required
Immediately: Update billing system to accept speech pathology orders from IHCP-enrolled nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives, and physician assistants in addition to physicians. Verify ordering practitioner enrollment in IHCP before submitting claims. Train staff on expanded ordering practitioner types for speech pathology services.
