Summary
Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) has extended the suspension of managed care entity prior authorization requirements for continued use of respiratory assist devices and supplies through July 31, 2023. Initial PA is still required for new devices, but continuation of existing respiratory equipment no longer needs PA approval.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update prior authorization workflows to stop requiring PA for continuation of respiratory assist devices and supplies listed in the policy (CPAP, BiPAP, oxygen equipment) for Indiana Medicaid MCE plans through July 31, 2023. Continue to obtain initial PA for new device requests. Providers must still document medical necessity and member compliance acknowledgment in medical records.
