Summary

Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) updated reimbursement rates for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers for advanced life support, basic life support, and nonemergency medical transportation services. Effective July 1, 2023, Medicaid will reimburse at the lowest of provider's submitted charge, Medicare urban rate for Indiana, or IHCP Professional Fee Schedule rate adjusted for inflation.

Action needed
By July 1, 2023: Billing team must update fee schedules in billing system with the new IHCP reimbursement rates for all EMS transportation codes listed in Table 1. Update charge master to ensure submitted charges align with new allowable amounts. Note that A0225 reimbursement equals A0427 rate ($440.29). EMS providers should verify their submitted charges do not exceed the new allowable amounts to avoid automatic reimbursement reductions.
