Summary
Effective July 1, 2023, Indiana Medicaid FFS members residing in nursing facilities will no longer receive non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) services through Verida broker. Nursing facilities must now coordinate transportation directly - ALS/BLS ambulance services are billed to Gainwell, while all other transportation is included in the facility's per diem rate.
Action Required
By June 30, 2023: Billing teams serving Indiana nursing facilities must stop arranging NEMT through Verida. For ALS/BLS ambulance transports, coordinate directly with ambulance providers who will bill Gainwell using appropriate procedure codes. For all other NEMT services (ambulatory, wheelchair van), do not submit claims to Gainwell as these are now included in nursing facility per diem rates.
