Summary
Indiana Medicaid will begin covering mobile crisis intervention services effective July 1, 2023, for DMHA-designated mobile crisis units. New billing codes S9484, S9485, H0034 U9, and H2011 UA are now reimbursable for crisis response services.
Action Required
By July 1, 2023: Billing team must add new crisis intervention codes S9484, S9485, H0034 U9, and H2011 UA to billing system with specified rates ($184.92-$355.72 for S codes, $18.62 for H0034 U9, $33.72 for H2011 UA). Verify provider has DMHA designation as mobile crisis unit before billing. Update encounter forms for community mental health centers (provider type 11, specialty 111). Document all services rendered for non-CMHC mobile crisis units within 180-day filing period.
