Summary
Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) now allows school psychologists to enroll as Ordering, Prescribing, Referring (OPR) providers using specialty code O86, enabling them to refer Medicaid students to school-based services. The policy also clarifies that psychological testing services by licensed school psychologists will be reimbursed when medically necessary for IDEA or Section 504 requirements.

Immediately: If your practice works with school psychologists or provides school-based services, update provider enrollment records to recognize O86 specialty code for school psychologist OPR providers. Billing team should be aware that these providers can make referrals but cannot bill IHCP directly for services.
