Summary
Indiana Health Coverage Programs now requires the individual attending provider's NPI (not group NPI) on all institutional claims including inpatient, outpatient, ASC, and long-term care services. Claims missing this information will be denied starting November 26, 2024 with EOB code 1142.
Action Required
By November 26, 2024: Billing team must update UB-04 institutional claim forms and electronic equivalents to include the individual attending provider's NPI (not group NPI) for all inpatient, outpatient, ASC, and long-term care claims. Verify attending providers are enrolled as OPR or rendering providers with IHCP. Failure to include individual provider NPI will result in claim denials with EOB code 1142.
