Summary

By April 1, 2026: Billing team must update coding system and fee schedules to include new HCPCS codes L8625 (external recharging system for cochlear implant/auditory osseointegrated device), L8694 (auditory osseointegrated device transducer/actuator), A8006 (powered grip assist glove), and L5992 (lower extremity prosthesis foot shell). Update code narratives in billing software for L8618, L8624, and L8691 to reflect inclusion of auditory osseointegrated devices. Verify that encoder/reference materials are current before processing claims with these codes. Communicate changes to providers and ensure encounter forms reflect updated device coverage. Failure to implement may result in claim denials or incorrect coding submissions.
