Billing teams must ensure these codes are not billed or are denied appropriately when submitted.

By 07/01/2025: Billing team must update billing system software to classify CPT codes 0951T, 0952T, 0953T, 0954T, and 0955T as experimental/investigational and non-covered under Independence Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plans. Add these codes to the system's denial rules with a standard denial message referencing experimental/investigational status. Verify that medically necessary codes (69714, 69716, 69717, L8618, L8624, L8625, L8690) and corresponding ICD-10 diagnosis codes (H90.0, H90.11, H90.12, H90.2, H90.41, H90.42) remain active and properly configured for coverage. Communicate this change to all providers who perform hearing aid implantation procedures. Failure to implement these changes will result in inappropriate claim approvals for non-covered experimental procedures.
