Summary
Independence Blue Cross updated ICD-10 diagnosis codes for routine foot care coverage effective 10/01/2025. Multiple sclerosis (G35) was restructured into specific subtypes (G35.A, G35.B0-B2, G35.C0-C2, G35.D) in Attachment C, and a new Type 2 diabetes code (E11.A) was added to Attachment B. Billing teams must update diagnosis code validation logic to ensure claims use the new specific MS codes and recognize the new diabetes remission code.

By 10/01/2025: Billing team must update the claims system to recognize the seven new multiple sclerosis ICD-10 codes (G35.A, G35.B0, G35.B1, G35.B2, G35.C0, G35.C1, G35.C2, G35.D) as eligible for routine foot care coverage under Attachment C. Remove the old non-specific G35 code from the system. Add E11.A (Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications in remission) to Attachment B eligible diagnosis codes. Update charge capture templates and superbills used by podiatrists and primary care providers to reflect the new specific MS codes. Test claims submission with the new codes before the effective date. Flag and review any pending claims using the old G35 code and resubmit with the appropriate specific subtype code once system is updated. Failure to update will result in claim denials when providers submit with the new specific MS codes.
