MassHealth reminds hearing instrument specialists that they must use the Provider Online Service Center (POSC) to check a member's hearing aid history before providing services. Prior authorization is required for any member who has received hearing aids within the past 60 months (5 years).

Immediately: Hearing instrument specialists must log into POSC before each hearing aid service, select 'Manage Claims and Payments' then 'Hearing Aid Member Search', enter the member's 12-digit MassHealth ID, and obtain prior authorization if the member received hearing aids within the past 60 months. Complete training at https://masshealth.inquisiqlms.com/Default.aspx under 'Hearing Aid Member Search in POSC'. Failure to obtain required prior authorization will result in claim denials.
