Summary
KMAP now covers CPT code 70471 (Computed Tomographic Angiography of head and neck) effective January 1, 2026, retroactively. Billing teams must ensure this code is used when CTA studies include both head and neck regions and must never bill it with specified excluded codes (70450, 70460, 70470, 70473, 70490, 70491, 70492, 70496, 70498, 76376, 76377). Fee schedules for physician, outpatient, ASC, and technical components are provided.
Action Required
By December 31, 2025: Billing team must update billing software to recognize CPT 70471 as a covered procedure for KMAP and configure system to block concurrent billing with CPT codes 70450, 70460, 70470, 70473, 70490, 70491, 70492, 70496, 70498, 76376, and 76377. Update fee schedules in billing system with provided rates (Physician $198.57, OPS $95.97, ASC $294.53, TC $302.97, Global TC $148.90). Train providers and coders to report 70471 when CTA includes both head and neck regions. Verify KanCare MCO implementation status on KMAP Bulletins page and KanCare Open Claims Resolution Log before processing claims, as MCO implementation dates may differ from state effective date.
