Summary

Local education agencies have additional requirements for referring provider information on all services except coordination and transportation.

Immediately: Billing team must verify all Maryland Medicaid claims follow NCCI guidelines and use correct CMS-1500 blocks: Block 17/17b for Referring Provider, Block 24J for Rendering Provider, Block 32b/33 for Billing Provider, and Block 24D for Modifiers. Local education agencies must include licensed Maryland Medicaid enrolled provider name and NPI in Box 17 for all services except service coordination and transportation.
