Maryland is discontinuing the 1184 newborn enrollment process in eMedicaid effective February 1, 2026. All hospitals and MCOs must use the new Maryland Medicaid Newborn Portal to enroll deemed newborns into Medicaid after this date.

Before February 1, 2026: Hospital billing teams in Maryland must request access to the Maryland Medicaid Newborn Portal by emailing mdh.newbornportal@maryland.gov with required information (staff name, email, phone, hospital name, address, 9-digit Medicaid provider number, hospital phone). Ensure at least one staff member is enrolled in Sailpoint provisioning system. Stop using eMedicaid 1184 process for newborn enrollments after January 31, 2026.
