Summary
Maryland Medicaid is implementing mandatory case management services for Medical Day Care Services Waiver participants through authorized Case Management Agencies (CMAs), effective March 16, 2026. Adult Medical Day Care Centers will no longer provide case management services and must work with assigned CMAs for plan of service development and coordination.
Action Required
By February 28, 2026: Billing teams serving Maryland Medical Day Care Services Waiver participants must update workflows to coordinate with assigned Case Management Agencies instead of providing direct case management. Update billing systems to reflect that case management services will be billed by CMAs, not Adult Medical Day Care Centers. Establish communication protocols with the five authorized CMAs for plan of service coordination and documentation requests.
