Summary

Alabama Medicaid has launched a new Long-Term Care (LTC) Web Portal Admission Notification Panel effective 9/1/2026, providing a streamlined, web-based alternative to current LTC admission notification software. This new portal is available at no charge to Type 3 (Nursing Homes/Hospital Swing Beds), Type 68 (PACE), and Type 53 (Waiver) providers, offering improved data validation, faster processing, and reduced administrative burden for LTC admission submissions.

Action Required

Action needed
By September 1, 2026: LTC facility billing and administrative teams at nursing homes, hospital swing bed units, and PACE providers must familiarize staff with the new LTC Web Portal Admission Notification Panel. (1) Access the Alabama Medicaid Portal at https://www.medicaid.alabamaservices.org/alportal/ and download the 'LTC Web Portal User Guide' from Information > AL Links. (2) Assign authorized users (provider and clerk accounts) to begin submitting digital LTC admission notifications through the web portal instead of current software. (3) Update internal workflows to leverage the new panel's auto-population features for provider/recipient ID searches. (4) Contact the Electronic Media Claims (EMC) Help Desk at (800) 456-1242 (7 a.m.–8 p.m. CST, Monday–Friday) for training or technical support. Migration to the web portal is optional but recommended; the current LTC admission notification software will continue to function, though the new portal offers reduced rejection rates and faster processing.
