REQUIREMENTS: - Immediately upon receipt: Audit all current third-party vendors and billing software to identify any AI-based automated inquiry or call systems that contact Blue Cross VT - By September 1, 2026: Billing team, practice managers, and any third-party billers/vendors must disable or remove all AI-generated, automated, or bot-based communication methods (chatbots, automated voice systems, RPA tools) that would contact Blue Cross VT for claim status, prior authorization inquiries, or account follow-ups - Ensure all inquiries to Blue Cross VT are made by live personnel via the Provider Resource Center, email (providerrelations@bcbsvt.com), or phone (888) 449-0443, option 1 - Update vendor contracts and service agreements with third-party billers to explicitly prohibit AI-based automated contact with Blue Cross VT and include this requirement in any business associate agreements - Communicate this policy to all staff and vendors who interact with Blue Cross VT on behalf of the practice - CONSEQUENCES: Suspected AI calls will be disconnected, and the practice may lose communication channels or face delayed responses, impacting claim processing and authorization timelines
