Summary
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois is transitioning nonemergency medical transportation services for Medicaid members from Modivcare to MTM Health, effective October 1, 2026. Medicaid patients must contact MTM Health to request transportation services going forward, though recurring trips and previously scheduled trips will automatically transfer. The billing team should note this is a vendor change only and does not affect billing codes or claims submission.
Action Required
Before October 1, 2026: Inform front desk staff and clinical staff of the transportation provider change so they can answer patient inquiries. Update any internal documentation or patient handouts that reference Modivcare to include MTM Health contact information (877-831-3148, MTM Health website, MTM Link app). No billing system changes are required as this is a vendor transition managed by the payer. If patients ask, direct them to contact MTM Health directly or inform them they will receive notification letters from BCBSIL. This change does not affect claim submission, billing codes, or reimbursement processes.
