Action Required
By 7/15/2026: (1) Billing team must update billing system to enforce place of service (POS) 20 requirement for CPT/HCPCS codes S9083 and S9088. Claims submitted with any other POS will be automatically denied—configure system to reject or flag these submissions before transmission to Ambetter. (2) Billing team must audit claims currently billing S9083/S9088 with incorrect POS codes and prepare for reprocessing under new rules. (3) Front desk and provider staff must verify patient eligibility by 7/1/2026 for any member identified in dual marketplace enrollment; deny service or collect point-of-service fees if enrollment cannot be verified, as Ambetter will retroactively terminate these memberships. By 7/31/2026: (4) Clinical staff and care coordinators must prepare outreach list of patients receiving infusions in hospital outpatient settings; coordinate with Ambetter care coordination team at (866) 861-6269 to identify eligible patients for transition to home infusion or ambulatory infusion suite (AIS) before September outreach begins. (5) Providers should review and update documentation templates for outpatient ED E&M services to ensure coding reflects actual facility resources utilized (nursing time, clinical staff, supplies, equipment, overhead) rather than provider cognitive work, as Ambetter will begin applying national CPT billing guidelines and recoding claims to correct E&M levels effective 8/1/2026. Failure to comply with POS requirements will result in claim denials; failure to document facility resource utilization may trigger E&M recoding and payment adjustments.
