Summary
Arkansas Medicaid is expanding coverage for blood pressure monitors and cuffs for eligible members with high-risk pregnancies and/or in the postpartum period, effective September 1, 2026. Two new HCPCS codes (A4663 and A4670) are now covered under the MEDSP contract at specified rates, with a limit of one monitor and one cuff per nine-month period.
Action Required
By August 31, 2026: Billing team must update billing software to recognize and process HCPCS codes A4663 (NU modifier) and A4670 (NU modifier) as covered services under the MEDSP contract. Verify that diagnosis codes 2038 or 2041 (high-risk pregnancy/postpartum indicators) are required for claim submission. Configure system to enforce the one-per-nine-month-period limit per member. Update claim submission protocols and provider encounter forms to reflect new covered supplies. Failure to update billing rules may result in claim denials or incorrect reimbursement at rates of $25.93 and $62.74 respectively.
