Summary
Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico has updated 16 reimbursement policies effective between July 24, 2026 and December 4, 2026. These policies cover chiropractic care, lactation support, laboratory testing panels, trauma activation, robotic surgery, and multiple specialized lab tests. Action Required
By July 24, 2026: Billing team must obtain and review the full text of policy RP016 (Chiropractic Care) and RP043 (Lactation Support). By August 14, 2026: Review RP021 (Laboratory Panel Billing), RP031 (Trauma Activation), and RP035 (Unlisted/NOC Coding). By August 21, 2026: Review RP052 (Robotic Assisted Surgery). By December 4, 2026: Review all RPLAB policies (004, 014, 032, 045, 046, 049, 050, 056, 057, 061, 063, 071). For each policy, the billing team must: (1) Access the full policy documents from https://www.bcbsnm.com/provider/education-reference/reimbursement-policies, (2) Identify specific CPT/HCPCS codes affected, (3) Update billing software and fee schedules accordingly, (4) Communicate changes to clinical and administrative staff, and (5) Verify claim submission logic is updated before each effective date. Failure to implement updates may result in claim denials or improper reimbursement.
