Summary
L.A. Care Health Plan has launched an enhanced Provider Portal with self-registration capability for contracted solo practitioners. Billing teams must encourage providers to register using their NPI, TIN, and Vendor ID to access new features including SAR submission, eligibility verification, claims status tracking, and remittance information without phone calls.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team should identify all contracted solo practitioners (Type 1 NPI providers) in the L.A. Care network and communicate the new portal registration opportunity. Compile and verify Pay-to NPIs, TINs, and Vendor IDs from remittance advices to prepare provider registration information. For providers affiliated with PPGs, IPAs, or delegated organizations, direct them to their designated portal administrator rather than self-registering. Update internal workflows to leverage the new portal features (SAR tracking, eligibility verification, claims status) to reduce phone inquiries to the Provider Solution Center and improve operational efficiency. Ensure staff are aware that Legacy Portal credentials do not automatically transfer to the enhanced portal, so existing users must re-register. If providers encounter registration issues, direct them to submit inquiries via the Provider Portal Inquiry Form or contact their L.A. Care Account Manager, with expectations of up to 5 business days for response on non-urgent issues.
