Summary
South Carolina Blues requires all providers to validate their demographic data every 90 days per CAA requirements. Providers whose data hasn't been validated in over 90 days will be suppressed from the insurer's directories, potentially blocking patient access. Billing teams must ensure providers complete validation in M.D. Checkup (MIM) to maintain directory listing and avoid revenue impact.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must audit all provider locations in your practice to determine when each provider's last demographic validation occurred in M.D. Checkup (My Insurance Manager). For ANY provider location where 90 days has passed since the last validation: (1) Contact the provider to log into MIM, (2) Navigate to the purple 'Provider Validation' box and select 'Validate Now', (3) For locations marked 'Verification Required' or 'Suppressed from Directories', select 'View & Edit', review/update demographic data, then select 'Verify'. (4) Confirm validation completion within 2 business days to avoid directory suppression. Providers: Establish a quarterly calendar reminder (every 90 days) to complete validation in MIM to prevent being removed from South Carolina Blues directories, which will block patient appointment scheduling and referrals. Billing team to flag any suppressed locations immediately and escalate to providers for urgent remediation. Failure to validate will result in patient inability to locate your practice in directories.
