Summary
UnitedHealthcare enhanced their virtual card payment process for member payments to providers. Two new features have been added to the Provider Portal: a 'Payments from Members' folder in Document Library for digital payment notices, and a Payment Preference Center where practices can manage how they receive member payments.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must regularly check the new 'Payments from Members' folder in Document Library within the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal. Set up email notifications by designating an email recipient in Document Delivery Settings under the Payments from Members tab to receive alerts when new documents are uploaded. When processing virtual card payments, use credit card point-of-sale terminal to process as credit transactions, not debit. Remember that virtual card payments still expire after 30 days if not processed.
