Summary

South Carolina Blues requires all providers to validate their demographic data every 90 days to remain listed in provider directories. Providers who fail to validate within 90 days will be suppressed from directories until they complete validation through the M.D. Checkup portal in My Insurance Manager (MIM). This is a regulatory requirement under the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) effective since January 1, 2022.

ONGOING REQUIREMENT: All providers must validate demographic data every 90 days to maintain directory listing. Billing team and practice management must: (1) Designate staff responsible for tracking 90-day validation deadlines; (2) Log into My Insurance Manager (MIM) and access the purple 'Provider Validation' box every 90 days; (3) Select 'Validate Now' for each practice location; (4) For locations showing 'Verification Required' or 'Suppressed from Directories,' select 'View & Edit,' review/update information, then select 'Verify'; (5) For currently suppressed locations, complete validation immediately to restore directory listing. Directory updates occur within two business days of validation. Failure to validate will result in provider suppression from South Carolina Blues directories, preventing patients from finding and scheduling appointments and potentially reducing patient volume and claims.
