Summary

Action Required
By May 1, 2022: Billing team and front-desk staff must update patient eligibility verification processes to identify members age 50+ and those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised as eligible for second booster doses. Verify that members received their first booster dose at least 4 months prior before authorizing or processing claims. Update encounter forms and EMR templates to capture booster sequence (first vs. second) and date of prior booster administration. Coordinate with providers to ensure proper documentation of immunocompromised status when applicable. Direct members to UPMC's COVID-19 FAQ page and online scheduling portal. Route billing inquiries to UPMC Health Plan's provider FAQ and Appendix A policy documentation.
