Summary
UPMC Health Plan is launching an optional LGBTQIA+ Affirming Provider designation program to help members identify culturally competent providers. Providers can earn this designation by completing three online learning modules (1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit each) and submitting an attestation. The designation will be visible in UPMC provider directories starting summer/fall 2022.

No billing workflow changes required. This is an optional credentialing/designation program, not a billing or coverage policy. Providers may voluntarily complete the three learning modules and attestation to earn the designation. Non-UPMC employed providers access materials via UPMC Health Plan's patient health resources page; UPMC-employed providers access via HR Direct Learning. No deadline specified; designation program is available now with visibility in directories expected summer/fall 2022.
