Providers should inform diabetic patients prescribed Omnipod pods to check if their lot is affected via omnipod.com/mdc/check-pod-lot. Billing team should anticipate increased claims related to: (1) emergency visits or hospitalizations for hyperglycemia/DKA in patients with affected pods, (2) replacement Omnipod devices (covered by Insulet at no cost—coordinate with Insulet directly for device replacement billing). Do not bill patients for replacement pods as Insulet is providing them at no cost. Document in billing system that claims tied to this device correction should reference the May 2026 correction notice.
