Summary

Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) is introducing 29 new provider specialties effective September 1, 2026, to support the Community Support Waiver (CSW) program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Providers must enroll with specific taxonomy codes under Provider Type 55 (HCBS Services) and obtain CSW-specific approval before billing for these services.

Action Required

Before Sep 1, 2026
Before September 1, 2026: Billing team must (1) identify which providers in the practice intend to deliver CSW services; (2) work with those providers to obtain KMAP CSW-specific provider enrollment approval using the appropriate Provider Type 55 taxonomy codes (55/570, 55/571, 55/572, 55/573, and others per policy); (3) update billing system to recognize new service type codes S5110-U1 and S5110-U8 for Family/Caregiver Support and Training; (4) ensure encounter forms and billing templates capture CSW service eligibility and documentation requirements; (5) coordinate with Financial Management Services (FMS) if self-directed services are offered. Claims submitted before obtaining CSW-specific enrollment approval will be denied. Providers must verify all service-specific qualifications with Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) before enrollment.
