Summary
UnitedHealthcare California providers may be selected between August and December 2026 to participate in the Provider Appointment Availability Survey (PAAS), an annual assessment mandated by the California Department of Managed Health Care. Participation is mandatory if selected, and failure to respond may negatively affect compliance with state and UnitedHealthcare contractual requirements.
Action Required
By July 31, 2026: Notify all office staff responsible for scheduling and appointment availability about the upcoming PAAS survey. Ensure staff are prepared to respond promptly if Sutherland Healthcare Solutions contacts the practice by email, fax, or phone with survey instructions. If contacted, staff must complete the survey within the assigned survey window (takes less than 10 minutes). Document that the survey requires providing next available appointment dates and times for urgent, nonurgent, and follow-up care. If multiple health plans contact the practice, the survey must be completed for each request. Front desk/scheduling staff should prioritize this as a compliance requirement. Failure to participate may result in negative compliance findings with the California DMHC and UnitedHealthcare.
