Summary

Effective July 27, 2026, Texas Medicaid has temporarily removed nonpreferred status from two Basaglar insulin products (NDC 00002771501 and 00002771559) due to Lantus Solostar shipping delays and backorders. This means these insulin products no longer require prior authorization, allowing providers to prescribe them directly to ensure continued patient access.

By July 27, 2026: Billing team must update the pharmacy billing system to remove prior authorization requirements for Basaglar 100 unit/milliliter KwikPen (NDC 00002771501 and 00002771559). Update any internal PDL tracking documents or formulary references to reflect these products are now preferred. Notify providers that these insulin products no longer require prior auth.
