Summary

Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) is transitioning EDI connectivity from VPN to Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) effective September 1, 2026. Managed care organizations (MCOs) that submit batch claims and eligibility requests must discontinue VPN access and migrate to direct internet-based SFTP connections. This change does not affect MCOHub or non-batch submitters.

Action Required

Before Sep 1, 2026
Before September 1, 2026: IT and billing leadership must coordinate with TMHP and review the updated EDI Connectivity Guide at tmhp.com to plan migration from VPN to SFTP connectivity. If your practice uses EDI batch submission for claims or eligibility requests through TMHP-managed MCOs, the technical team must: (1) Discontinue VPN access to TMHP EDI services, (2) Configure systems to access EDI FTP services directly over the internet using SFTP, (3) Complete trading partner testing before the September 1 deadline. Contact ediconnectivitysupport@tmhp.com for technical support and testing questions. Failure to migrate may result in inability to submit batch claims and eligibility requests after the effective date.
