Summary
Connecticut Medical Assistance Program (CMAP) is mandating Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enrollment for all providers, trading partners, and drug labelers accessing the secure web portal by August 1, 2026. Users must choose between Authenticator App or Email Verification methods. Additionally, security question structure has been updated to use structured dropdown menus (effective May 13, 2026), and password change notifications are now sent to users and Master Users when account security information is modified.
Action Required
By August 1, 2026: All billing staff with Master User or Clerk access to the CMAP secure web portal must complete MFA enrollment. ACTION STEPS: (1) Designate staff responsible for portal access; (2) Have each user log into www.ctdssmap.com and enroll in MFA using either Authenticator App (Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Authy) or Email Verification method; (3) Test MFA login access before the deadline; (4) Update security questions using the new structured dropdown format in Account Maintenance; (5) Ensure all staff understand that MFA will be REQUIRED (no longer optional) after August 1, 2026, and portal access will not function without MFA enrollment. IMMEDIATE (before August 1): Register staff for optional office hours (July 24-31, August 3-7, 2026) if technical assistance is needed. Contact Provider Assistance Center at 1-800-842-8440 (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm) if enrollment fails or password reset assistance is required. CONSEQUENCE: Without MFA enrollment by August 1, 2026, staff will be unable to access the portal, log in, reset passwords, or update EFT information, disrupting billing operations and claims submission.
