Reimbursement Policy Updates

REQUIREMENTS: - By June 8, 2026 (retroactive): Billing team must review and implement RP039 (Outpatient Facility Service(s) Overlapping During an Inpatient Stay) to ensure proper coding and reimbursement handling for overlapping facility services during inpatient stays. - By July 1, 2026: Billing team must update claim submission procedures per RP006 (Preventive Services Policy) to ensure preventive service codes are properly identified and billed without patient cost-sharing. - By July 10, 2026: Billing team and providers must review RP012 (Hernia Repair) for updated coding and reimbursement methodologies; update billing software and encounter forms with new hernia repair code requirements. - By July 17, 2026: Billing team must implement RP022 (Pneumatic Compression Devices) updated coverage and reimbursement rules; verify device-related claims align with new policy before submission. - By October 12, 2026: Anesthesia billing staff must update procedures per RP010 (Anesthesia Information – Professional Provider); ensure anesthesia codes are billed with correct modifiers and reimbursement basis. - By October 19, 2026: Billing team must update modifier application rules per RP023 (Modifier Reference Policy) across all CPT code billing; verify all claims use compliant modifiers before submission. - ACTION: Obtain full policy documents for each updated policy (RP006, RP010, RP012, RP022, RP023, RP039) from BCBS provider portal immediately to identify specific code changes and billing rule updates. - Failure to implement these changes by respective effective dates will result in claim denials or incorrect reimbursement.
