Summary
The Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program (BCCTP) Provider Portal has updated its qualifying diagnosis dropdown lists to reflect current medical terminology. Providers must now select diagnoses from updated Breast Cancer or Cervical Cancer/Endocervical diagnosis menus when submitting BCCTP applications. Pathology reports are now required for NOS (not otherwise specified) diagnoses or if the diagnosis is not available in the dropdown list.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing and provider teams must familiarize themselves with the updated BCCTP Provider Portal diagnosis dropdown menus for Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer/Endocervical diagnoses. When submitting BCCTP applications in the Provider Portal, ensure providers select diagnoses only from the updated dropdown lists. For diagnoses coded as 'Breast Malignancy, NOS' or 'Cervical Malignancy NOS,' or when the applicable diagnosis is not in the dropdown list, the billing team must ensure pathology reports are submitted with the application by fax to 1-916-440-5693 or email to BCCTP@dhcs.ca.gov. Update internal workflows and provider communication to clarify the new requirement. Failure to include required pathology reports will result in application delays or denials.
