Summary

Nevada Medicaid has reclassified Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (Provider Type 63) as high-risk providers, effective July 28, 2026. This requires new enrollment documentation including fingerprint background checks, medical director license verification, and shortens revalidation cycles from 5 years to 3 years. PT 63 providers must complete swift revalidation by October 31, 2026.

Action Required

Action needed
By October 31, 2026: All PT 63 (Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities) providers must complete swift revalidation as high-risk providers with Nevada Medicaid. Immediately implement the following for any PT 63 providers in the network: (1) Ensure providers upload a completed and signed Nevada Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Background Waiver into the 'Miscellaneous Attachments' section of enrollment/revalidation applications; (2) Verify and require providers to upload a copy of the Medical Director's active license (LCSW, LMFT, LCPC, Physician, NP-Psychiatry, or Psychologist) into the 'Miscellaneous Attachments' section; (3) Update internal provider files to reflect new 3-year revalidation requirement (instead of 5 years) and permanent high-risk status. Billing/credentialing team must track all PT 63 providers and their October 31, 2026 revalidation deadline. Failure to meet revalidation deadline will result in loss of Medicaid enrollment and inability to bill. Contact Gainwell Technologies at (877) 638-3472 for questions.
