Summary
Beginning July 18, 2026, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico providers can digitally access prior authorization and referral decision letters for commercial members through Availity Essentials portal. Starting September 8, 2026, approval letters will ONLY be available digitally - no longer mailed via USPS (denial letters will still be mailed).
Action Required
By July 18, 2026: Billing team and providers must ensure access to Availity Essentials portal and begin using Provider Correspondence Viewer for prior authorization letters. By September 8, 2026: Must rely entirely on digital access for approval letters as USPS delivery ends. Update workflow to check portal regularly for approvals to avoid treatment delays.
