Summary
The State of Texas Electronic Provider System (STEPS) will be offline for a planned system update from July 17, 2026 at 5 p.m. to July 19, 2026 at 9 p.m. CDT. External users will have no access to STEPS during this outage window, which may impact claim submissions, authorization requests, and provider account activities that depend on the system.
Action Required
By July 17, 2026 at 5 p.m. CDT: Billing team must complete all time-sensitive STEPS transactions (claim submissions, prior authorization requests, account inquiries) before the outage begins. Establish an outage communication plan to notify providers and staff that STEPS will be unavailable July 17-19, 2026. Designate backup processes for any workflows dependent on STEPS access during this period. After system restoration on July 19 at 9 p.m. CDT, verify system accessibility before resuming normal STEPS operations. Document any delayed transactions and prioritize resubmission the following business day. Failure to complete critical transactions before the outage may result in delayed claims processing and prior authorization approvals.
