Lysis of Epidural Adhesions 7.01.73

By October 15, 2025: (1) Billing team must update system edits to deny all claims for lysis of epidural adhesions/epidural adhesiolysis procedures submitted to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield plans; (2) Flag any pending claims for this procedure and contact providers to inform them of non-coverage status; (3) Update denial templates and correspondence to reference Policy 7.01.73 and cite investigational status; (4) Notify providers in pain management and interventional pain specialty of coverage denial through practice communication channels; (5) Ensure front-office staff are aware to obtain valid prior authorization denial letters before service dates when possible. Failure to implement these changes will result in claim denials by the payer and potential patient balance billing issues.
